Description
Orang Pendek, meaning 'the short man' in Indonesian language, is a hominid-type cryptid who's been witnessed a number of times in mountainous forests on the island of Sumatra.
Wide range of eyewitnesses are spanning from forest tribes, local villagers, Dutch colonists, Western scientists and travelers. Consensus among these witnesses is that the animal is a short(stands between 80 and 150 cm tall) but very powerfully built, ground-dwelling, bipedal primate that is covered in grey to brown short fur.
Some cryptozoologists have speculated that the creature may in fact be surviving members of archaic Homo species, Homo floresiensis, whose skeletal remains were discovered in caves on Flores island, Indonesia. However, the Flores Cave man, at least judging from female skeletons, had relatively weak muscle attachments and very short big toes, neither of which correspond to reported morphological characteristics of Orang Pendek.
I therefore depicted the creature with somewhat combined elements of both H.floresiensis and Orang Pendek, the result of which is a unique archaic human species.

Given the presence of a distinct hallux on supposed Orang Pendek footprints, i'd suggest it to be an advanced orangutan or an offshoot of the ponginae, their equivalent of Australopithecus-the beginning of terrestrial, bipedal locomotion for their fanily.
