Dinofelis abeli

These cats are often referred to as 'false' saber-tooths, because of their dental morphology falls to some extent between that of the true saber-tooths and the living pantherines, with flattened although reasonably short canines. The animals were also midway in size between a large leopard and a lion, perhaps equivalent of a jaguar.
Its forelimb had a relatively short forearm, rather like that seen in forest-dwelling species such as the jaguar, while the rear limb appears to have been relatively gracile.
